An election in Scotland is coming. Join us in calling on all political parties to help save around 10,100 lives between now and 2040.
We’ve made huge progress on cancer in the last 50 years. But, in Scotland, pressure on cancer care is increasing, waiting times are not consistently met, and inequalities in cancer outcomes are growing.
People affected by cancer deserve better. That’s why, ahead of the election in 2026, we've launched Longer, better lives: A manifesto for cancer research and care in Scotland.
Now, we need all political parties in Scotland to prioritise cancer and commit to our calls for change. With urgent action, the next Scottish Government could help save around 10,100 lives over the next 15 years. The time to act is now.
Join us by adding your name today. Together, let’s show all political parties that people in Scotland want to see a future with better cancer outcomes for all.
We're asking all political parties in Scotland to:
Deliver a long-term cancer strategy: When it comes to beating cancer, long-term cancer strategies are key to success. Scotland’s current cancer strategy, published in 2023, is bold and ambitious – but progress is being delayed because of a lack of adequate funding for delivery. That needs to change.
Support the NHS: Diagnosing and treating cancer promptly requires a well-resourced NHS with enough staff and equipment, and the ability to adopt cutting-edge technologies and treatments quickly. With pressure on primary care increasing, we want to see action and funding to address workforce shortfalls and cancer inequalities in Scotland, as well as promote innovative tests and treatments.
Combat lung cancer: Lung cancer is the most common cancer in Scotland. That's why it's vital that the Scottish government takes action on tobacco – the biggest cause of lung cancer. This includes supporting the Tobacco and Vapes Bill, funding stop smoking services, and rolling out lung cancer screening.
Invest in research: Research is key to providing us with better cancer prevention, earlier diagnosis and kinder, better treatments. With the right investment from government, Scotland could deliver more of the health innovations we need to help beat cancer.
